A Different Look

The Kitchen of Love has a new look!
As our Founder, Doris Lebby often says, "The real work is on the inside". After working behind the walls to input all the necessary ductwork, the new stove and hood has been installed. We are now one step closer to being a full soup kitchen.

The dream is becoming more and more real!

The Next Chapter

Appliances rolling in!
At the end of 2024 we hosted a fundraiser to raise funds to build a commercial kitchen at the Center for Community Impact. This community showed up and showed out. Not only did we meet the goal, we exceeded it! And now the real work begins.

We can't wait to serve this community in bigger and better ways in 2025!

Ready to Serve

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a Serving Station!
Our long-awaited serving station is finally complete! Tables and chairs have been brought in. Shelving is in place and ready for donations. And, the counter has been installed!

In case you haven't heard, we'll host a Grand Re-Opening on August 18th to share all the renovations and prepare for a new season of serving.

What's Next?
Next up is completing Operation Love. For this stage, we have a lot of sorting and organizing to complete. Thankfully Wise Renovations completed the floor in this area already setting the stage for another beautiful space to serve our guests with free clothing and hygiene items.

From the Floor and Up

Introducing Wise Renovations!
We'd like to introduce you to Charity from Wise Renovations and her trusty sidekick!

Charity has taken those bare floors from drab to fab. We're thrilled to use this local small business during our renovation process. She not only did the floors in the serving station but also in the area for Operation Love. We're another step closer to finishing this space!

In other news, we're already planning our Grand Re-Opening. It'll be held August 18th (Get it? 8/18 ;D) at 3:00 pm. Come see our new Center for Community Impact and all its glory in person and help us celebrate new beginnings.

Painted Glory

The Serving Station is painted!
Keeping with the mission to create a comforting and welcoming space, the walls have been painted a soothing sage green. The excitement at having another stage done is staggering. There are still quite a few areas to work on before we can fully open.

What's Next?
-
Floors - We're adding finished floors to the serving station to complete the look. As you can see from the first image, it's currently unfinished concrete.
-
Shelving - This area will also house our food pantry where bread, baked goods, and other items can be picked up for free.
We're also beginning to work on Operation Love! We know you are ready to bring those donations. This area needs to be finished so that donations can be sorted and arranged for our guests.

Let There Be Walls

The Serving Station is almost finished!
It's exciting to see the walls constructed, the floors laid, and all those shiny appliances in place. We continue to thank God and all the incredible people He has sent our way. We wouldn't be here without His continued hand guiding us every step of the way. His favor is moving mountains.

Thank you for your prayers as we go through inspections to ensure the space is up to code and everything is in order. There is still work to be done but much progress has been made and we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

A Work in Progress

We know everyone is anxious to hear how we're progressing on the new building. There is still quite a bit of work to be done but everything is moving forward. In April the city granted the permit to begin work on our Serving Station. Most of the appliances were purchased so that work could begin installing the correct plumbing, wiring, and other necessities.

However, The Gathering Place is just about done!! Hours and hours of love and sweat have been put in to make this area an inviting, comfortable space for people to come together. We are astounded at the number of people who donated items, time, and skills to create this room. From the woodwork to the pillows, love has been poured into every corner and will continue to be. We can't wait to share it with you!

We've Signed A Lease!
Love in Action is thrilled to announce that we have found a new location! After a 3-month search, we have signed a new lease.
The number eight represents New Beginnings and we're excited about this new chapter at 818 University Ave. This location is a huge blessing as we will have more space to serve the community and conduct our programs.
We won't be able to start serving right away and will need the help of our community to renovate the space and get ready to open. We appreciate your support and can't wait to open the doors to this new location soon!
After five amazing years, our season at 414 University Ave has come to an end and we will be leaving the building at the end of January.
414 University was an incredible blessing given to this ministry and we will be forever grateful for this miracle that came along just when we needed it.
While we don't have a new home yet, we are believing God for a bigger location that allows us to better serve the needs of the many guests who come through our doors. We are walking in faith knowing that God has great things in store for our next chapter.
We are exceedingly grateful to everyone who has been with us on this journey. Please continue to keep us in prayer. Also, make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated. We can't wait to see the ways God leads us to serve the community in the interim.
We thank you for your patience and assistance as we make sure our guests are aware of all the services available to them.
We ask that you join us in prayer for two things:
1) A safe place for our guests to go
2) A new location downtown for our organization to call home
Below you'll find our schedule for January.
